Skinny Mojitos

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tbsp honey or agave nectar
  • 3/4 tbsp water
  • 12 mint leaves (or 3 drops of mint essential oil)
  • 1.5 oz light rum
  • 3/4 cup seltzer
  • 1 oz lime juice

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix lime juice, honey, and water. Add mint leaves. 
  2. Muddle the mint leaves in the liquid-muddling is simply crushing or bruising the leaves to release their essential oils/flavors-you don’t want to chop them or shred them-this won’t get you the flavor.
  3. Add ice to a glass. Pour mint mixture into glass and top with rum and seltzer. 
  4. Garnish with a lime and mint sprigs.

Clean Eating Margarita Mix

INGREDIENTS (Makes approximately 2 servings):

  • 1/2 cup fresh squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons honey or light agave nectar
  • 1/8 teaspoon pure orange extract
  • Ice

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Combine all ingredients together in a large container and stir or shake (with a lid on, please) until the agave nectar has dissolved. 
  2. I like using agave vs. honey, makes it a little sweeter. Make your margarita as you typically would. I use Jose Cuervo Especial – Tequila Gold.
